LA Wildfires –  Updates & Care Response

It’s heartbreaking to witness the devastation caused by the fires in our community. Our hearts go out to everyone affected, especially as we’ve learned that many in our church have lost their homes and businesses. As we face another day of heavy winds and uncertainty, below are a few ways we can love, care, pray and receive support as we move forward together as a church family.

We will update the below as we gain more information and resources.

With love and continued prayers,

Ger Jones
Senior Pastor

Care & Support Updates

Safety Update:

As far as we are aware, everyone in our church family is safe, unharmed and have relocated to appropriate alternative housing.

If you are in need or you know anyone else in our church family in need, please let us know via, email care@vintagechurchla.com or our LA Wildfires Care Form.

Housing and Practical Support:

Many in our church family know that their house was lost in the fires. We are in contact with them and working together to help in the short term. If you are in need of any practical help please email care@vintagechurchla.com or submit our LA Wildfires Care Form so we can work together to provide the right support. We have numerous offers of help with housing, food, and additional support and we will let you know if we have anything else we need.

Closing Vintage Building for Safety:

Given the location of our building evacuation warnings and ongoing high winds, we are closing our building as a 'shelter'. If anyone needs a safe shelter please direct to the Westwood Recreation Center (1350 S Sepulveda Blvd 90025) which is open for evacuees and accepts small animals.

Personal Prayer and Hope

Join us in praying through Psalm 46 together as a church family.

In this tragedy, we have a firm foundation that our God is with us, that we walk through dark valleys with his presence and power and we walk together, holding each other up, carrying each other's burdens and we rebuild together.

As you pray, please pray for the following:

  • Church Family - pray for all those affected in our church and community for their practical needs, hope and the continued presence and power of Christ with us.

  • Local Leaders - pray for the safety and strength of our emergency services, wisdom and guidance for our local leaders.

  • Weather - pray for the winds to die down and fires to subside, and no further fires to start.
