Creative Videographer

Line Manager: Director of Engagement

Location: Santa Monica

Payroll Status: Full Time (40+ hours/week)

Work week: Sunday-Thursday

Pay Range: $65k - 75k

Primary Purpose of the Position

The creative videographer will create engaging and high-quality video, audio and graphics for existing marketing and communications channels and settings. These include YouTube, Podcast channels, website, ProPresenter, LED Wall, social media and supporting content for email and content marketing campaigns. Working under the Director of Engagement they will execute creative outputs that deliver on our mission objectives and campaign goals.

They will also play a key part in helping to develop and explore new outputs such as interactive displays, podcasts and Tik Tok.

The content created will be varied – some leading with fun, some real-life stories, and others with significant messaging to equip and engage our audience across the generations.

A successful candidate will have a high value for excellence – visual composition, effective use of lighting and sound, as well as brilliant interpersonal skills that help put people at ease and draw out the right content when filming. They will be well versed in the production process from concept through to filming, editing, post production and technical formatting – as well as managing project timelines.

They will have a love for storytelling and engaging audiences, strength, intuition/sensitivity, and a good sense of fun / humor.

They will be a great team player, contributing and collaborating with others well, and have the ability to both give and receive direction. Whilst they’ll lead with their professional abilities, they will be fueled by a strong desire to use their skills and talents for God’s Kingdom in LA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Storyboarding and concept development alongside the Director of Engagement

  • Filming and editing (video and some audio only outputs)

  • Creating motion graphics, including ministry idents

  • Executing creative assets (incl. stage graphics - static and video, social media (clips and reels), website and for other marketing and communications.

  • Filming / editing real life stories / testimonies

  • Filming services and other teaching and training settings

  • Set-up and storing of studio equipment including lighting, backdrops and sound gear

  • Working with the team to strategize on best performing content using analytics from our own and any other relevant channels

  • Managing our YouTube channel

  • Creative asset management (including photography, video and audio)

  • Helping to coordinate relevant volunteers for creative outputs (video / photographers)

  • ProPresenter: building content, operating slides and AV content

  • Any other tasks that will help Vintage to deliver engaging and effective marketing and communications and support the engagement team.

OTHER:

As a staff member of Vintage Church, the overarching purpose of your role is to serve the mission of the church. As such, you may be assigned tasks and responsibilities from time to time which are outside of the scope of this job description.

Skills & Experience

Necessary

  • Relevant college degree, or professional training / internship

  • 3-5 years’ experience in creative video production

  • 2+ years’ experience in assistant producing / project management for creative video/ film

  • 2+ years’ professional experience of creating content for social media (eg for a business or organization)

  • Lighting design: ability to advise on, set up and measure lighting settings at a professional level

  • Sound recording: ability to advise on, set up and test sound recording at a professional level

  • Color correction and styling

  • Fully proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Photoshop

  • Good attention to detail

  • Excellent planning and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing demands


Desired

  • Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve

  • Studio / Stage Design

  • Graphic design experience or training – including typography

  • Photography training, experience, shooting and editing / color correction

  • Proficiency in ProPresenter

  • Animation experience or training

  • Sound design experience or training

  • Expertise/understanding of creating relevant content for Gen Z

  • Experience creating video for Tik Tok

Nice to have

  • Experience using Asana

  • Experience being a member of a mid-to-large size church is a plus

Additional Requirements

The work schedule may include other weekend and evening hours. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, additional tasks as assigned to serve the larger vision of the church. All staff are required to work certain church functions such as Alpha Launch Nights and the FOCUS Retreat, Good Friday, Easter Saturday & Sunday, and Christmas Eve. These special events may include additional hours for setup and teardown. Additional details are outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Pay Range

$65k to $75k annually
